Compact Design, Powerful Perception | DEPTRUM Launches Nebula 400 Depth Camera
DEPTRUM recently launched its new 3D depth camera, the Deptrum Nebula 400, designed to meet the navigation and obstacle-avoidance needs of commercial robots in complex environments with a more precise and adaptable 3D visual sensing solution.
As a new depth camera built for commercial robot scenarios, the Nebula 400 combines 3D structured light with ToF technology, offering wide field of view, long range and strong outdoor performance, while delivering high-precision depth sensing from close to long distances and significantly improving robot performance in complex scenes.
The Nebula 400 features an ultra-wide 98°(H) × 75°(V) field of view, giving robots a broader vista with less distortion and greatly improving their perception of the surroundings and working efficiency and safety. By combining 3D structured light with ToF, it delivers high-quality imaging at both near and far range, covering an ultra-wide span from 3 cm to 8 m for more comprehensive perception.
With its ultra-wide span of depth perception, a single Nebula 400 can handle both obstacle avoidance and navigation. For close-range avoidance, its high-precision structured light reconstruction removes the multipath interference inherent in ToF, ensuring accurate depth data. For long-range SLAM, the Nebula 400 uses mToF modulated light-field technology and a high-precision pixel-spotting strategy to suppress multipath noise, greatly improving precision in complex environments — even in narrow areas such as wall corners.
In addition, the Nebula 400 incorporates DEPTRUM's proprietary color-depth fusion algorithm, outputting RGBD-fused images that generate denser, clearer point clouds. This technology continues to provide high-quality depth data even in challenging scenes such as black and highly reflective surfaces, giving robots better avoidance capability.
The Nebula 400 also supports multiple depth perception algorithms, including ground obstacle segmentation, 3D SLAM and thin-line/stain recognition. Working together, these algorithms provide efficient depth perception across scenarios, improving the recognition of complex environments and small objects and enabling faster, more accurate environment mapping and path planning during SLAM.
Outdoors, the Nebula 400 remains excellent. It resists strong light and keeps working stably even under outdoor illumination as high as 100,000 lux, and its IP67 dust and water protection keeps dust and moisture out of the device, ensuring continuous, stable operation in bad weather or humid environments.
The Nebula 400 offers outstanding compatibility and adaptability for delivery robots, cleaning robots, outdoor robots, robot dogs, humanoid robots and more. Its multi-scenario adaptability comes not only from advanced hardware and optimized software algorithms but also from its compact form. The rear M12 connector supports USB 2.0 and Ethernet, eliminating cable-length limits, enhancing connection stability and reliability, and enabling further miniaturization and easier integration.
The launch of the Nebula 400 showcases DEPTRUM's innovation in 3D vision sensing and lays a visual technology foundation for commercial robots in complex environments. As the technology continues to evolve, DEPTRUM will keep advancing the application of 3D vision in commercial robotics, helping industries achieve digital and intelligent transformation.
