Advancing Precision in Smart Massage: DEPTRUM Powers the Launch of YIQI Future R2

DEPTRUM

YIQI Future, a company incubated by NetEase, has officially launched its next-generation intelligent massage robot, the R2, delivering a comprehensive upgrade in perception capability and user experience. The R2 is equipped with DEPTRUM’s Aurora series 3D structured light depth camera, providing a stable and reliable foundation for 3D perception and enabling higher precision, greater consistency and broader coverage in real-world massage service scenarios.

The massage and physiotherapy industry has long faced complex challenges: wide variation in body types, frequent posture changes and the high flexibility of human tissue. These factors place extremely high demands on the perception accuracy, control capability and stability of massage robots, which must continuously and accurately understand the structural characteristics and information of the person being served.

To address this industry pain point, the YIQI Future R2 is equipped with DEPTRUM’s leading 3D depth perception solution. Using the Aurora series 3D structured light depth camera, the robot quickly builds a high-precision 3D model of the human body and perceives body contours and spatial structure in real time, providing reliable data support for acupoint identification, path planning and force control. This significantly improves the stability and consistency of the overall massage effect.

In intelligent massage, seeing accurately is the prerequisite for pressing accurately. With high-precision 3D vision, the R2 accurately identifies acupoint positions across different body types, postures and conditions, and guides the robotic arm to apply force precisely. Rotation error is controlled within 1° and average error is less than 2mm, truly delivering massage actions exactly where intended.

Compared with the previous generation, the R2 achieves significant improvements in perception efficiency and recognition accuracy: acupoint recognition speed is increased by approximately 30% and recognition accuracy by approximately 50%. Its recognizable range has also expanded to core massage areas including the back, abdomen and legs, allowing the robot to cover more complete massage scenarios and meet diverse service needs. Path planning based on real-time 3D perception also makes robotic arm movement more natural and reasonable, markedly improving comfort and fluidity throughout the massage.

In practical use, the 3D depth perception solution adopted by the R2 is centered on spatial structure information and does not capture or output identifiable color images. In privacy-sensitive settings such as physiotherapy rooms, gyms and rehabilitation centers, this effectively balances technical performance with user privacy protection.

In addition, DEPTRUM’s 3D vision solution offers outstanding resistance to ambient light interference, stably outputting high-quality 3D data under varying lighting conditions and providing an underlying guarantee for standardized delivery of intelligent massage services. This stability allows high-quality massage expertise to be translated into replicable technical capability, ensuring that users in different cities and at different stores receive a consistent, high-standard massage experience.

As intelligent massage enters a phase of large-scale adoption, 3D vision is becoming key infrastructure connecting robots with the physical world. Through sustained work in high-precision 3D perception, DEPTRUM is working with partners such as YIQI Future to move intelligent massage from “usable” to “reliable,” providing solid support for the intelligent upgrade of the health service industry.
