Being the Eyes of Robots: DEPTRUM Leads a New Era of Intelligent Perception

DEPTRUM

With technological innovation and progress, robots are becoming the core driving force of intelligent transformation — especially in hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and other fields, where robots play a crucial role, providing strong support for the automation of all industries.

The rapid development of AI technology has driven demand across industries for robots' use scenarios and working performance. As the eyes of robots, 3D vision technology provides environmental perception and interaction capability. With 3D depth cameras, robots can acquire and understand fine 3D environmental information, achieving more accurate localization, reconstruction, obstacle avoidance and navigation — bringing more intelligence and possibility.

Leveraging advanced 3D perception technology, DEPTRUM offers robot solutions across multiple technology routes — ToF, structured light and sToF — providing customized “eyes” for different robots, endowing them with excellent spatial understanding and environmental perception.

Depth cameras on different technology routes let robots acquire the 3D visual information that suits them best, helping them autonomously build virtual environment mappings at work, understand complex scenes and respond promptly — providing more efficient and accurate technical support so robots work stably and efficiently even in complex scenarios.

Among these, DEPTRUM's proprietary sToF technology once again revolutionizes robot visual perception. Based on a hardware system designed around DEPTRUM's nanophotonic-chip-modulated projected light fields, it combines the soft-core structured-light depth algorithm with the mToF algorithm, fusing the 3D reconstruction advantages of ToF and structured light to achieve ultra-high precision at close range and high precision at mid-to-long range. It not only optimizes robots' mapping, navigation and obstacle avoidance, but significantly improves their performance in various working environments.

sToF technology composition

Centered on sToF technology, DEPTRUM launched the Nebula 220 depth camera. With the 3D visual perception it provides, robots can complete close-range obstacle avoidance and long-range SLAM depth reconstruction — a double breakthrough in performance and cost.

Meanwhile, to fit more robots, DEPTRUM also launched the Nebula 220 MIPI depth camera, which can be paired with a robot's mainboard for customized development, allowing sToF technology to adapt to more robots.

Beyond sToF, DEPTRUM also provides a 3D structured-light robot solution. Centered on the Aurora 930 depth camera, robots use 3D structured light to rapidly identify the 3D structure of objects and space, helping them read surrounding environment information and improving scanning and obstacle-avoidance capability.

In addition, DEPTRUM launched the Aurora 940 depth camera, whose ultra-wide field of view greatly enhances robots' efficiency and precision in complex environments, further strengthening environmental information acquisition and processing.

At the same time, DEPTRUM's 3D ToF robot solution has been applied in products such as Midea's Little Wai home service robot. With high resolution, small blind zone, wide range and high precision, it helps the Little Wai robot capture the depth profile of the home environment and acquire distance information, achieving better automatic cleaning-route planning and precise obstacle avoidance.

Furthermore, 3D ToF depth cameras such as the Stellar 400 and Stellar 400 MIPI have been applied to disinfection robots, AGV forklifts and other products, providing them with quality 3D vision capability.

With innovative 3D vision technology, DEPTRUM adds eyes that see the world for robots, enabling them to accurately recognize and understand surrounding objects and complex environments, and effectively perform obstacle avoidance, navigation and environment reconstruction.

In the future, relying on its technology accumulation in 3D vision, DEPTRUM will keep exploring and innovating more advanced robot 3D vision solutions, giving robots more excellent visual perception and efficiency in complex environments, leading intelligent perception technology into a new era.
